Technical Information for Graphic Designers

You can either:

Design your own badge online  - OR -

Let us design your badge for you  - OR -

If you are a graphic designer and would like to design something more complex than can be achieved with our online design function, we have provided the following information and guidelines to help you get the most out of your design.

PLEASE NOTE: Where possible, please create just one badge and supply us with a list of names in this Excel template. We do not accept multi-page PDF files without an accompanying list of names using the Excel template. If you have to design all of the badges, please supply one document (preferably PDF) containing all of the designs on one page (page size doesn't matter) using the cutlines from the badge templates below.
Please don't outline fonts for text that will change (names or job titles etc.). If you do submit artwork with outlined fonts, please let us know the names of the fonts used so we can make the text lines editable for future re-orders.

The first step to creating your own badge is to:

Download Our Badge Templates

This template contains cut lines for each of our badges.

However, if you are not a graphic designer, you do not need to read further. We take a pride in our flexibility and are able to produce exceptional quality name badges from almost any image. We also offer a badge design service, no obligation, completely free of charge!

Image Submission Guidelines

Bleed

Any parts of the design which are intended to print to the trimmed edge of the badge should be extended 2mm beyond the cut line to give a 'bleed' (which allows for tolerance in the production process). Any text or images should be inset approximately 2mm inside the cut line.

Colours / Colour Matching

Here at Name Badges International, we are able to design badges from a variety of methods. When specifying a colour, we can accept any of the following:

  • Hexadecimal (e.g. #ffd900)
  • RGB (e.g. 255,217,0)
  • CMYK (e.g. 2,11,100,0)
  • HSB (e.g. 51°,100%,100%)
  • Pantone® colours*

Pantone Colours

* We print in CMYK, if you supply us with a Pantone® colour we will try to match as closely as possible.

Fonts

We have a vast library of thousands of fonts on our system. But you might want to check with us when submitting your order if your design uses a rare or obscure font. If it is not subject to any licensing then why not attach the font with your artwork and we will add it to our collection.

If you supply us with a particular font and point size we can replicate this. However, make sure that when you design your own badge it is created actual size (within our cut line templates); otherwise point sizes will be meaningless.

Submitting Files

We can accept logos and badge designs in almost any format, but if the badge has been designed using a vector based program it is always best to prevent rasterising the design. As such, our preferred file formats are listed below:

  • .pdf
  • .ai
  • .eps

Other common file formats include:

  • .jpg
  • .jpeg
  • .doc
  • .pub

As previously mentioned, we can open almost anything. In the unlikely event that you send us a file we cannot open, we will contact you about your options.

We can currently accept files via email up to around 6MB.
